A different view of the seating area, revealing the entirety of the space that was designed and constructed in under 10 weeks. The Green Room was used during the broadcast and then demolished the following day.

The hand painted and lacquered screen above the banquette (another Gibbons trademark) was inspired by one designed in 1930 by the American-born architect, Eileen Gray.

The seating area is highlighted by polished black lacquered floors–a hallmark of Gibbons’ interiors–as well as the stepped architectural details for which he was known.

Intended as an homage to legendary set designer Cedric Gibbons, the entrance to the Green Room features a video wall of Academy Awards winners along with the iconic Oscar, a statue that Gibbons both created and won eleven times.
